This is just a new variant of the “Nigerian” scam: when you contact them, you will be asked to pay money up front for “processing fees”. They will explain that these fees can not be deducted from the award. If you are stupid enough to pay, they will tell you they forgot to mention another fee that applies in your case. You will never get the award, because Microsoft have confirmed it does not exist.
Since they appear to be UK based (though clearly not native English speakers)if you have paid anything contact the Scotland Yard Internet Crime unit immediately.

The grammar and overall use of the english language was poor to say the least, but my favorite mistake was that in the first email i received the contacts name was Ben but in the second it was Ken lol. Personally i would have acctually beleived it if they had taken the time to use proper english grammar and spelling and not made such stupid errors.

Bill Gates and AOL cannot police the internet. These people escape arrest & detention because of the very nature of the internet. Trust me, I’ve learned the hard way. Now, learn to protect yourselves. Your first clue is in the email address. The TO: line is blank. Your name and email address are not even shown on the address to: line. This is a blast email sent out in bulk hoping to catch a fish. 2nd clue, Microsoft and AOL are U.S. based companies. Why would they run a Sweepstakes out of the UK? And why would they staff it with people who have no clue as to proper English grammar and structure? Learn something about sweepstakes and lotteries. Legitimate ones may contact you by email but would not ask for personal information over the airways. And any time you’re asked for money for any reason, you can bet you’ll never see your winnings. Don’t blame Bill Gates and AOL. They’re just as much victims as we are. Corporate logos and letterhead are easily duplicated off the internet. I’ve begun letting them know that their little plan backfired, that they’re perpetrating fraud, without letting them know how I know. We have to get them off the airways and the only way to do that is to turn the tables on them. Blow their game. If we let them know that we’re not so stupid, that we know what they’re doing, we can cut down on some of this garbage. Since I have begun responding to the emails that “I have no money and I’m not interested in fraud” I’ve been getting much less of this type of scam. Try it. We have to police ourselves.
