Futurama: The Beast With A Billion Backs

Good news, everyone! New Futurama Movie in June

As Bender’s Big Score gets set to air in four installments on Comedy Central later this month, Fox Home Entertainment ahs announced that the next adventure in the series of Futurama DVD movies will be available at retail this summer. The Fate of human and robot-kind is at stake when Futurama: The Beast With A Billion Backs debuts at retail on June 24.

In what Fox is calling the most tentacle-packed Futurama epic, space itself rips open, revealing a gateway to another universe. What lies beyond is a mix of horror and love as the Planet Express crew encounters a repulsive, planet-sized monster with romantic intentions.

The second feature-length Futurama film will be followed by at least two more movies from series creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. The show’s entire voice cast and most of its main writers have returned to help revive the series, which FOX cancelled in 2003. Groening, who also created The Simpsons, has told us that Futurama is the animated show he’s most proud of. Those who haven’t picked up Bender’s Big Score on DVD yet can catch it on Comedy Central on March 23 at 8 p.m.

[on the TV show, Futurama]

Not only does this show contain sexual innuendo, blasphemy against our faith, and promotes the false belief in alien life forms, but it also takes place in the year 3000 (by which time the rapture will most likely have come)…

I’m sure there were a lot of people in the 10th century who were certain the world wouldn’t last another 1000 years…

New episodes of Futurama coming to Comedy Central … for real!

When Katey Sagal visited The Late Late Show the other day, she told Craig that the show is coming back to Comedy Central in 2008 for at least 13 episodes (I was watching that appearance, too. Must have slept through that part). Don Kaplan of the New York Post confirmed this; his sources told him that all the primary voice actors signed new deals this week. Also according to the article, FOX may have the option to air the new episodes, but probably won’t. The new episodes will also come out on DVD after they air.

All Apoligies

Guys,
I’m sorry I gave inaccurate info on the cartoon.I was told on one end that the TV show was a go but DXC enlightened me (with a hammer) that this was not the case. I think there is a Futurama project as in DVD’s but I appearently had bad info. But I do live to give good Futurama news to people. So I must’ve died or something.

All eyes on the skies,

Billy

From BillyWest.com:

I’m this close to selling my show–”Billy Bastard–Amateur Human Being,” And the other good news is that they’re doing 26 new episodes of ”Futurama” for TV and we’re hammering out the deal now.The original plan was to have the DVD’s first but that’s no longer the case.I’m totaly jammed dude.

If true, this is even better news than the previously reported “Futurama Return to DVD Seems Likely.”

Futurama Return to DVD Seems Likely

(via gotfuturama.com)

The other day, Billy ‘Fry’ West posted on his message board that he got a call, saying that production for up to four Futurama DVD movies will start around July or August:

[The] Futurama project is a done deal! [...] There are 4 DVD movies that we’ll start recording at the end of July or August. Full feature length FUTURAMA movies. Everybody is excited to get back together–as I am!

Into the Future,
Billy

We tried to verify this post with sources close to the show and … didn’t get a denial. That’s way more than what we got before!

Since FOX didn’t go public about this yet, there might of course be last minute reversals. Expect more info here soon.

In context of our last update: This is purely about DVDs for now. Peter Liguori and the FBC are responsible for the TV part of FOX.
