Groan!

A prominent broadcaster, on a big-game safari in Africa, was taken to a watering hole where the life of the jungle could be observed. As he looked down from his tree platform and described the scene into his tape recorder, he saw two gnus grazing peacefully. So preoccupied were they that they failed to observe the approach of a pride of lions led by two magnificent specimens, obviously the leaders. The lions charged, killed the gnus, and dragged them into the bushes where their feasting could not be seen. A little while later the two kings of the jungle emerged and the radioman recorded on his tape: “Well, that’s the end of the gnus and here, once again, are the head lions.”

A man who could make so vile a pun would not scruple to pick a pocket.

The St. Louis Arch affects the weather

Can We Control the Weather?:

The St. Louis Arch, a 636 ft. monument on the west bank of the Mississippi River, has stood for nearly forty years. It is a shining monument built to convey St. Louis’s role as the Gateway to the West. Only now has the reason for its construction as well as its true purpose been revealed. It seems that some of the same scientists responsible for the doomsday weapon research in the deserts of the Southwest U.S. during the forties, were also interested in controlling the weather. They hoped to use weather control as a means to aid in troop movement and logistics for the Allies, as well as use it as a tactical weapon against the enemy. This, they hoped, would bring about a quick end to the war in Europe.

Thus, the design for the arch was conceived. The stainless steel structure, while able to produce an ionic pulse, is impervious to any lingering affects. Each leg of the arch is able to push positive and negative ions into the air so as to create a positive or negatively charged field that can ‘push’ storms out of the way. During the day this national monument stands as the gateway to the west, but after hours this man-made marvel turns into one of the most powerful weather controlling devices ever conceived.

The government has long since tried to cover up the details on this secret research project. Scientists involved in the development and construction of this technology in the Arch were moved to other countries to continue additional research projects. Contractors involved in the construction were not aware of the technologies and devices being implemented in the Arch. To this day, very few people know of the existence of the ‘Weather Control Experiments’ taking place in the Midwest. But the next time you watch the weather, pay close attention to the strange weather patterns and movement of storm systems in the St. Louis area.

I say bullshit (but amusing) :)

Futurama Return to DVD Seems Likely

(via gotfuturama.com)

The other day, Billy ‘Fry’ West posted on his message board that he got a call, saying that production for up to four Futurama DVD movies will start around July or August:

[The] Futurama project is a done deal! [...] There are 4 DVD movies that we’ll start recording at the end of July or August. Full feature length FUTURAMA movies. Everybody is excited to get back together–as I am!

Into the Future,
Billy

We tried to verify this post with sources close to the show and … didn’t get a denial. That’s way more than what we got before!

Since FOX didn’t go public about this yet, there might of course be last minute reversals. Expect more info here soon.

In context of our last update: This is purely about DVDs for now. Peter Liguori and the FBC are responsible for the TV part of FOX.

FWIW, here’s the IMDb link: Futurama (2007) (V).

The Road to Changtse

Hardware met Software on the road to Changtse. Software said: “You are the Yin and I am the Yang. If we travel together we will become famous and earn vast sums of money.” And so the pair set forth together, thinking to conquer the world.

Presently, they met Firmware, who was dressed in tattered rags, and hobbled along propped on a thorny stick. Firmware said to them: “The Tao lies beyond Yin and Yang. It is silent and still as a pool of water. It does not seek fame, therefore nobody knows its presence. It does not seeks fortune, for it is complete within itself. It exists beyond space and time.”

Software and Hardware, ashamed, returned to their homes.

Monday, January 23 gloomiest day of the year: academic

LONDON (AFP) – Watch out: Monday, January 23 is going to be the unhappiest day of the year, according to a British university researcher.

Cliff Arnall, a health psychologist at the University of Cardiff, specialising in confidence-building and stress management, told AFP the prediction was the result of some gruelling mathematics.

Post-Christmas blues, the return to work after the holidays, mounting bills to pay for the parties, the challenge of keeping New Year’s resolutions, the slender prospects of fun in the weeks ahead and chilly winter temperatures for those in the northern hemisphere all add up, he said.

These factors, which he combined in a complex formula, came out showing that the Monday closest to January 24 would be the most dismal of the year.
